Biography

Early Life

Because of her diabetes, Joy's mother was blind. ("Suspicion") Her father left her and her mother when she was very young, and eventually her mother became terminally ill. Though not having enough money to pay for a doctor, Christopher Neff still took care of her mother up until her death. From there, Christopher took Joy in, giving her a job as a maid and providing himself as a more fatherly figure in her life. Due to all of this, Joy feels she will forever be in debt to Christopher, and so she spends her life working to be a perfectionist, doing her best to never fail him. She began looking up to him as a father figure. ("Whiplash")
